Trans-Atlantic Business Exposition

 A permanent fixture of the Lidj Yasu Omowale Emancipation Village is the Trans-Atlantic Market and Trade Exposition where entrepreneurs from African countries, the Caribbean and Trinidad and Tobago showcase and sell a range of African-themed products, including clothing, jewelry, beauty products and art. Herbal products and books are also available. The palette is delighted by food from continental Africa – Ethiopia, Nigeria, Ghana – as well as dishes, drinks and sweets indigenous to Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean.


Cultural and educational activity is continuous during opening hours, from daily seminars and workshops, including one day devoted to children (Youth Day), a mini film festival, community expressions of drumming, dance and chantuelles in Rhythm and Voices of the People, stick fighting, capoeira and many more activities. Each night is rounded off with a major cultural programme including Jazz, Pan, Calypso, Reggae, Rapso with major performances by our cultural stalwarts.
