The 21st Annual Trans Atlantic Trade and Investment Symposium – Monday 31st July 2023

The 21st Annual Trans Atlantic Trade and Investment Symposium will be held in conjunction with the Ministry of Trade and Industry on July 31, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at the Ballroom of the Hilton Trinidad and Conference Centre.

The Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Symposium is an important forum for creating and expanding business and trade linkages between Trinidad and Tobago, Africa and the rest of the Diaspora. The Symposium combines enlightening discussions with opportunities for networking. Over the past 15 years, the Symposium has featured prominent business professionals from across he diaspora including Ms. Judith Aidoo, CEO, Caswell; Mr. Harry Alford, President National Black Chamber of Commerce [USA]; Prince Billy Harry, Vice President, Nigerian Association of Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mining & Agriculture; representatives of AU, ECOWAS, the World Bank. Delegations have attended from South Africa, Uganda, Nigeria and other African countries and provided the impetus for trade delegations between Africa and Trinidad and Tobago, It is an essential vehicle for growth, development and prosperity for Trinidad and Tobago as well as for the nations of Africa and the Diaspora around the world.

This year’s Emancipation celebrations are made more significant with the visit of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Ghana. The Monarch, who is also the Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), is a special guest of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago.

His Majesty will be the Feature Speaker at the 21st Annual Transatlantic Trade and Investment Symposium on Monday 31st July.  The Minister of Trade and Industry, Senator the Honourable, Paula Gopee Scoon will bring Opening Remarks at the symposium. 

The ESCTT in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Industry brings together a high-powered team of policy makers, businessmen and economic analysts, representing government agencies, multilateral institutions and private sectors in Africa, the Caribbean and the Americas. The objectives at this forum are to share information, expand face to face contacts and create opportunities for public and private discussions aimed at expanding business and development relationships within these regions.

In honour of the Royal visit the focus of this year’s symposium will be: The Logistics of Expanding Trade and Investment Between Ghana and Trinidad and Tobago.

Business leaders from InvesTT, Caribbean Airlines, Republic Bank, Seaboard Marine (Trinidad), the African Export Import Bank as well as leaders from the Energy Sector will present their plans and experiences towards accelerating opportunities to achieve our full potential in embracing the African continent.
